I'm glad some people believe the Bible's account of Noah's ark. In the town of Schagen, in the Netherlands, a man has taken the story seriously and built a true-to-size replica of Noah's ark. Dutchman Johnan Huibers felt that people might appreciate the truth of the biblical story better if they could see the thing as it really was. I mean, it really is hard to imagine one man and his sons building an ocean liner of that huge size at a time in history when there were no power tools! A contractor by trade, Huibers started the project in 2005 and built the ark himself with the help of his son, Roy. But he did use modern tools. The Bible gives the measurements of the ark as 150 cubits long, 30 cubits high and 20 cubits wide. The cubit, an old Egyptian measurement, is generally thought to be about 18 inches, which makes the length of the boat two-thirds the length of a football field and as high as a three-story house -- practically the size of a modern ocean liner. Inside the replica, life-size models of various animals are included and future plans are to include a petting cheap coach purses zoo with real animals on the top deck. There is also enough space allowed for a 50- seat theater inside near the keel where a video about Noah's ark will be shown. Recently opened to the public, one visitor who saw the ark was amazed. "It's past comprehension," Mary Louise Starosciak said. "I know the story of Noah, but I had no idea the boat would have been so big." Huibers, a firm Bible believer, said he is hopeful the project will renew interest in Christianity in the Netherlands, where church attendance has fallen dramatically in the past 50 years. Time and time again the subject of Noah's ark surfaces. Sometimes the matter is treated favorably and sometimes not. Some have claimed to have found the ark embedded in a glacier somewhere on the mountain range that includes the biblical Ararat, and others have squashed the story by declaring their searches have found nothing. The late Ron Wyatt, who had a Web site about the ark, told how satellite photos taken some years earlier by Arthur Brandenburger of Ohio State University showed a boat-like formation on Mount Ararat. The photos so intrigued Wyatt that he decided to investigate further. Not long after this, a small earthquake in the area caused the formation to be exposed even more and the structure could be measured at that time. It turned out to be the dimensions of the ark as given in the biblical account. Still, it was only a formation in the mud -- nothing that could be proved to have been a wooden boat. Later investigation did reveal the presence of metal, which, when excavated, turned out to be large rivets such as those that would have held replica hublot watches together wooden joints. Later still, a piece of petrified wood was also excavated from that area. Throughout history there have been a number of people who have claimed to have seen the ark. Berosus, a high priest in Babylon, stated that Noah's ark could still be seen on a mountain in Armenia, and about 400 years before Christ, the historian Abydenos agreed with him. The historian Josephus stated that the ark could still be seen in his day, the first century after Christ, and even Marco Polo made reference to seeing the ark about 1300 A.D. In 1887, an archbishop from Persia reported having seen the Other articles: http://www.wedspy.com/blog.php?user=mywatches&blogentry_id=46http://bluesky.oups.de/2010/05/24/mans-offending-bizarre-sini/

Hundreds of mourners packed St Andrew's Church to remember a fun- loving Plymouth man who died in a tragic accident in a Spanish swimming pool. cheap coach purses More than 400 friends and family yesterday filled the church to say goodbye to popular Andrew Piper, who died nearly two weeks ago while on holiday in Alicante. Brother Jamie and a string of friends fought back the tears to pay tribute to the 30-year-old. But there were also ripples of laughter as mourners remembered moments from the life of a man renowned for his smile and his laughter. Andrew's coffin entered the church draped in a replica shirt of his beloved Plymouth Argyle, bearing the tribute 'Legend 4 Ever'. He was accompanied by a huge floral tribute bearing his name. Andrew, a former Devonport High School for Boys and Hele's School pupil, drowned in his friend's swimming pool during a short break with his mates. It is not known how he ended up in the pool. ABERDEEN 1 CELTIC 3 SOMETIMES the dying embers of a season can come to resemble the final catcalls of a disintegrating marriage. The small irritants, once viewed as charming foibles, grow to become faults that cause a paroxysm of anger and a torrent of verbal recrimination. It is like that with the champions. The deficiencies that looked minuscule, even rrelevant in August, have now been placed under the microscope offered by a close title challenge. For much of this match, Celtic gave a demonstration of every failing in their season's report card. They drew howls of disappointment from a large, supportive travelling contingent who were unwittingly playing the part of the injured party in the threatened dissolution of a title challenge. Some of the faults were collective. The famous inability to defend set-pieces? Yup, score that one off. Chris Maguire was given so much space to nod in the first goal from Charlie Mulgrew's freekick that one suspected he had just been diagnosed with swine flu. cheap coach purses The daft challenges that lead to dangerous free-kicks? Yup, present and incorrect. Stephen McManus' foul on Tommy Wright was so silly the Celtic captain should have been wearing a red nose and outsize boots. Gary Caldwell and Lee Naylor were also guilty of giving away fouls in areas where Mulgrew is known to profit. There were also the individual eccentricities. Artur Boruc found Maguire's posterior with an attempted clearance and watched gratefully as the ball slid past the post. Every kick is an adventure for the Pole. Naylor, too, stuck his hand into his bag of tricks to produce his trademark cross that gains a view of the North Sea before nestling into a bucket seat. Caldwell's area of difficulty is the ball over the top. And, yup, he allowed a punt to sail over him on to the toe of Wright. The centre-back, though, redeemed himself with a saving tackle. McManus, taken off with a knee injury that will be assessed this week, was unconvincing throughout. Further forward, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Scott McDonald ran, albeit at a moderate pace, through the gamut of their limitations. This, then, was a team that could have surrendered all three points. But if the season has revealed Celtic's deficiencies, it has also underlined their enduring qualities. The foibles are there but so are the characteristics that demand the love of fans and the respect of disinterested observers. Boruc saved smartly when called upon. Caldwell was obdurate in defence. Naylor kept pushing forward and almost scored. Vennegoor of Hesselink was successful with the odd flick-on. McDonald scored two excellent, crucial goals. More importantly, Celtic collectively showed their mettle, bottle, intestinal fortitude or whatever it is called nowadays. replica hublot watches They laboured long and hard for the three points at Pittodrie. A draw could even have been beyond them by half-time as Maguire had scorned an excellent chance before opening the scoring. They clambered aboard the rescue craft by dint of Andrew Considine diverting Caldwell's header past Jamie Langfield. But Celtic persevered and prospered. Paul Hartley, who started nervously, forced his way back into the match as much by force of personality as by technique. Shunsuke Nakamura, looking far from fully fit, epitomised the will of the champions. He always showed for the ball, always protected it and used it to decent, if not de Other articles: http://www.madblog.fr/blog.php?user=mywatches¬e=69274http://www.589kk.cn/blog.asp?Uid=mywatches&id=835

Byline: Jonathan Brocklebank IT looked more like a palace than a bank reception room. The assembled guests gasped at the ornate antique furniture and fine art collection - and almost tripped on the extradeep-pile carpet. The canapes were the daddies of all fingerfood, each containing exquisite morsels of venison, scallop or caviar. The champagne, served on silver trays, was vintage, naturally. The Royal Bank of Scotland certainly knew how to throw a party in its magnificent former headquarters in Edinburgh's St Andrew Square. But where was its charismatic chief executive, the financial genius who had turned a cosy Scottish bank into a rival-munching global empire, becoming Scotland's most powerful businessman in the process? Sir Fred Goodwin, it seemed, was intent on arriving last. It was cheap coach purses a while until the assembled bankers, politicians and journalists found themselves 'in the presence'. Then nobody could fail to notice the beautifully tailored suit, elegant cuff-links and immaculate coiffure gliding by in an ensemble display of grandiosity, while poor John Swinney, the Holyrood Finance Secretary, was left looking like a manager from a small, rural branch. Meanwhile, there was a collective intake of breath among Goodwin's own senior employees, who gazed at him with almost religious devotion - or was it fear? The date was January 21, 2008, coincidentally the day when the RBS share price had taken a dramatic tumble. Yet Goodwin was characteristically insouciant. Institutions such as RBS, he told guests, were like great ocean liners on the high seas. Of course the odd localised current might pull the vessel a few degrees off course but, ultimately, progress was assured. Goodwin clearly saw himself as the captain of this proud ship. What he did not see was the iceberg - nor that the only ocean liner that bore comparison with the RBS in January 2008 was the Titanic, moments before she sank. A year on, it is hard to conceive of a more humiliating downfall than that of Fred 'the Shred' Goodwin. Having stepped down as chief executive of RBS in November, his official departure from the bank is not until January 31. That meant he was still around this week for the announcement of RBS losses for his last year at the helm - up to [pounds sterling]28billion, the most disastrous balance sheet in history for a UK company. He was still showing up for work as the financial press gave him a new soubriquet as 'the world's worst banker'. According to RBS, his presence was necessary to assist with the handover of power to his successor, Stephen Hester, yet Mr Hester told journalists this week: 'The last time I spoke to Fred was before Christmas.' So how does a former chief executive such as Goodwin pass his time at the office, when the new incumbent no longer speaks to him? 'I really don't know what to say?' said an RBS press officer. replica breitling watches The last few days at work for the 50-year-old father-of-two who brought a 282-year-old banking institution to its knees must be an excruciating experience. All around are senior colleagues who once considered him a financial god. Now he is the reason why many of them may lose their jobs, be forced to take their children out of private school and cancel the family holidays. Goodwin, of course, has lost his job, too, but we must not fret too much over his financial security. Last year, he was paid [pounds sterling]4.2million. br>Other articles: http://mywatches.mundua.com/2010/04/08/autism-risk-greater-for-kids-o/http://www.llian.com/Shamrock-Farms-and-Jay-Bilas-A.html

IN Cristiano Ronaldo's darkest hour, a candle of hope was lit by Jose Mourinho. The pair supposedly disliked each other; all that Manchester United versus Chelsea rivalry, all those digs by Mourinho about Ronaldo's lack of robustness when challenged. But on hearing his Portuguese compatriot was accused, wrongly it transpired, of an especially unpleasant crime, Mourinho phoned Ronaldo, offering a well-tailored shoulder to cry on. Typical Mourinho, a man of two halves. In public, Mr Bombastic, a rebel without a pause. In private, a genuinely charming soul of far greater dignity and generosity than his detractors can possibly imagine. The secret to understanding this serial fuse-lighter is simple: Mourinho adopts a brash personality in his cheap coach purses professional life, resembling an actor seeking maximum impact on his audience, whether dressing-room or press-room in Mourinho's case. And like the very best actors, this George Clooney lookalike is pure box office. Five years ago tomorrow, he first performed on an English stage. As Porto's Costinha swept in the rebound to knock Manchester United out of Europe, Mourinho leapt from behind the brick wall of the Old Trafford dug-out and danced down the touch-line like David Pleat in Armani. A linesman sought to bar his way but it would have taken a linebacker to stop Mourinho speeding to the corner-flag, to his celebrating players. A comet was launched across the star-filled skies of English football. Now it returns, still gleaming brightly, hurtling back to where all the fun and mind games really began, to the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday, to the latest duel with Sir Alex Ferguson. The week will bubble with talk of whether the pretender can outwit the master, even whether Inter Milan's young gun can display the credentials to succeed the Laird of Old Trafford one day. Talk to United fans and the verdict is clear: they love the outlaw streak in Mourinho, the swagger, the hunger for trophies, but his tactical approach would need to be more expansive. More dinner jacket, less strait-jacket. A manager who liberated Deco at Porto, Frank Lampard at Chelsea and Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Inter can surely embrace the open game demanded by the Stretford End. More cautious in Serie A, Mourinho can change. He can throw another winger into the mix, becoming more buccaneering, although the framework would be less fluid than under Ferguson. He certainly wants the United job. The thought of following Ferguson, the Colossus who bestrides the technical areas of the modern era, the manager he most admires, lights up Mourinho's eyes. The former Chelsea coach talks privately of his enduring regard for the Premier League. Any chairman seeking a motivator would inevitably turn to the Special One. Until recently, Didier Drogba had been moping around the Bridge like a lovesick labrador ever since Mourinho went. Steven Gerrard freely admitted he fancied playing under him, having never forgotten how Mourinho consoled him after his own goal in the 2005 Carling Cup final. A noted man-manager, Mourinho is incredibly hands-on when it comes to preparing the team tactically. He drills the team with almost boot-camp intensity pre-season. makeup brushes He emails players constantly, explaining how they can improve. Mourinho's charisma, attention to detail and ability to light the path towards silverware is why players will run across broken glass, through brick walls and the pain barrier for him. When storms of censure assail dressing-room members, Mourinho plays the lightning conductor. For critics, he is the abominable showman.
